Dena Thomas Aouassou received her MFA in sculpture from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2014. Prior to attending graduate school, she joined the U.S. Peace Corps, Morocco 2008-2010. She quickly acquired a fondness for the indigenous Tamazight language and supporting artisans to develop their small businesses. Dena’s work is deeply influenced by her life experiences.
Currently, Dena resides in Albuquerque, NM where she is the Makerspace Director at FUSE Makerspace powered by CNM Ingenuity. At CNM Dena has been able to combine her two passions of making and supporting small businesses.
